SET PIECES

Here's an easy way to make a ball-type skyrocket rocket.  You'll need the following materials:

-spherical aerial shell
-¼ to ½" thick wooden dowel, 3' long
-Estes D12-3 rocket engine
-visco fuse
-glue

Start by removing the lift charge from the shell.  Using a sharp knife, carefully cut away the bottom on the paper cup.  Dump out the black powder, and remove the shell's fuse.  All that should be left in the paper cup is the internal time fuse leading into the shell itself.  The end of the D rocket engine should fit inside of the paper cup.  Cover the inside wall of the cup in glue, being careful not to get any on the time fuse.  DO NOT USE HOT GLUE!  Slide in the D engine, then cover the connection in duct tape.  Now take the dowel rod and duct tape it tightly to the engine/shell assembly.  Cut a 3" piece of visco fuse, cut the end at an angle to expose the powder core, stick it into the engine, and secure it with a small blob of hot glue (yes, it's ok to use hot glue here).  When it's done, you can spray paint it and make some dangerous looking label to glue on.  I'd recommend shooting this thing out of a pipe, and only in a wide open area.  Like the fuse and run like hell.  It will shoot high into the sky, then ignite the shell and burst into a beautiful pattern of colors.

*Don't launch these when helicopters or Cessnas are flying around.  They'll think it's a surface to air missile strike.
